Rosa Becerril (Psiconnea): “It is now possible to identify mental health problems in a classroom”
Rosa Becerril Muñoz is a psychologist, coach and CEO of Psiconnea , an application that, through its certain advanced analytics techniques and artificial intelligence, seeks to improve the emotional and psychological state of talent, reducing their anxiety and stress levels. A description that fits like a glove in one of the groups most subjected to all this, students.
And this is what this ‘psychotechnologist’, as her team of psychologists redefines, talks about in this interview with ÉXITO EDUCATIVO: professionals who are more necessary than ever in classrooms where all kinds of psycho-emotional disturbances arise, which do not always have happy endings .
What is Psychonea?
Do you know which is the happiest country in the world for the third year in a row? Finland And do you know how to say happiness in Finnish? onnea; that is why we call ourselves Psiconnea, which means happy souls.
Does that explain why the Finnish educational model is a worldwide reference?
Its methodology is much freer, where it does not go so much to the genetics of the learning already acquired by our homes and environment, but rather the students are left free so that they can learn and evolve as individuals in a social world, logically, supported by the in each other.
How do you help the youngest?
Psiconnea is an intelligent and disruptive platform that unifies psychology, technology and artificial intelligence. He is capable of identifying the psycho-emotional state of both parents and adolescents, and giving them the necessary psychological tools to be able to face any problem. And it does so by working on the four main areas of health and well-being addressed by the WHO, which points out that health is not only the absence of disease, but also physical, social and mental well-being.
What we have done is take this concept and we have created Pisconnea, which what it does is, working through artificial intelligence, technology and psychology, unites the four outstanding areas of intervention, which are psycho-emotional, families, non-sedentary lifestyle and social support; because people are very lonely and we provide these tools in a personalized way to each person with the psychological techniques they need to be able to face their day to day.
That is, if, for example, a teenager has stress, or a problem with some friends and they don’t know how to deal with it, how does the application work?
Well, it will automatically identify how they are and why they are like this, and it will give them, through a series of very marketing-like inputs, very close so that the adolescent feels attracted, empirical psychology techniques so that they can face that problem. In addition, she is going to help parents in a parallel way to understand what moment their son is at and that they can help him and face that situation together.
If by chance, because the adolescent has arrived late for treatment and the problem begins to fester, or the parents do not know how to help them, despite the fact that the techniques are wonderful, what the application automatically allows is that they can request a professional, a psychologist. The adolescent can request this psychological assistance, it reaches the parents and is resolved with a professional that exactly fits the personality and the foundations that the adolescent needs.
How does the application work in practice?
It is through interaction and artificial intelligence. Right now we have 17,000 users and we’ve only been up and running for a year.
How can a school be interested in hiring your services?
The part of prevention of problems derived from mental health is very important. We are going to train people, their emotions, so that they can face their problems. Then we have the intervention part and the traceability of all the people who are on the platform. This will help us predict what problems that adolescent may have at a given moment, taking into account the group of adolescents of the same age, social rank, or type of associated parents.
Currently, we are in conversations with hospitals to treat cases of suicide and anxiety in adolescents, whose areas of attention are now saturated. This year we will begin to launch the application at a commercial level in educational centers because it is a way of being able to help, even the psychologists themselves who are in schools, because they will be able to use a control panel, in a system, and never in a nominative way, how the different students are, and if they have to make plans they can do them ad hoc.
Could a mental state map be made in a classroom?
Until now, when we talked about psychology, we understood it as a marketplace where you buy a psychologist. Psychology doesn’t work like that. In psychology the results can be measured and if you know exactly how many people in a classroom or in a school have certain problems, you identify them and then you can create concrete interventions to solve them, so that we can avoid the things that are happening now inside of the classrooms. In other words, today it is already possible to identify mental health problems in a classroom, which will help us to undertake the appropriate solutions.
