The first generation of Iryo machinists complete their training

Iryo, the private Spanish high-speed operator, has announced that its first generation of 30 train drivers is completing the training that began last January.
The course has combined technical knowledge about the railway network and Iryo’s own trains with training on human factors, keys to increasing safety on board, and during the coming months they will continue to carry out operational tests within the framework of their training program.
The Captrain training center, Renfe’s Professional Technical Driving and Operations School (ETPCO) and the Trenitalia training school have been some of those in charge of teaching this course. In addition, Psiconnea has trained train drivers for two weeks on human factors in key safety aspects such as stress management, working alone, decision-making in difficult situations or risks related to the profession.
Thus, the first 30 Iryo train drivers almost already have their corresponding qualifications for the start of the operator’s commercial operations next November, with which it will connect Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Valencia, Alicante, Cuenca, Seville, Malaga and Cordoba.
Iryo’s initial fleet is made up of state-of-the-art all-electric trains, made from 95% recyclable materials and powered by 100% renewable energy, saving 80% of carbon dioxide per person per journey.
